I can only encourage anyone visiting Belgium to pay a visit to the Vanhercke's place. It's only 10 min from Ghent. And quiet, very quiet. One can easily drive to Brussels, Anwerp or Brugge in the morning and come back for diner (same day of course). Very confortable bed, North-American style bathroom and BTW, the roof doesn't leak ;-)
Consider it a bargain.
Ingrid and Daniel are wonderful hosts. My wife and I spend the first week of June there last year. We have fond memories of it.

If you plan on visiting Belgium, don't miss the Ghent region, halfway between Brussels and Bruge. There's a fabulous B&B in Laarne (a rural suburb of Ghent) and the hospitality of the owners is heart-warming. Their snail-mail adress is: Family Vanhercke Meerskant 18 Laarne, Belgium B9270

If you need a good, bike-friendly place to stay, try http://www.vanhercke.com/bb just outside Ghent and near to Bruges. Highly recommended.
